2019 Chevrolet Camaro vs 2018 Chevrolet Camaro
Proudly Serving Houston, TX
Chevrolet first offered the Camaro for sale on September 29, 1966, which makes the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro one of the longest lasting vehicles to be consistently marketed in the U.S. The Camaro has seen six generations since its original 1967 form. The most recent generation makeover came in 2016. Both the 2018 and 2019 models of the Camaro are representative of the original model with several updates.
Performance
The Chevrolet Camaro has consistently rated as a Pony Car or, in some cases, a Muscle Car. Pony Cars is an affordable compact vehicle with a sporty twist. The Muscle Car is unique to the American persona. Muscle Cars use powerful engines in traditional 2-door frames to create massive power to thrust lightweight vehicles down the road. Every Camaro fits into one of these categories. The 2018 Camaro does not hold back on power. The 2018 models used what has become the traditional power-producing unit, the 6.2-Liter V-8 juggernaut that generates 455-horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque to push a light body totaling only 3685 pounds of curb weight. The lower trims sported a 3.6-Liter V-6 engine producing 335-horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque with a significant improvement in fuel mileage. During the final months of the 2018 production cycle, Camaro introduced a 2.0-Liter Inline-4 turbocharged engine that cranks out 275-horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
While the 2019 Camaro still offers the V-8 and V-6 engines, the 2.0-Liter engine produced delight amongst Camaro customer—so much pleasure that Camaro came out with a new trim called the Turbo 1LE that is specifically geared to enhance the strengths found in the turbocharged engine. The creation of this new trim is a significant departure from past Camaro marketing ploys.
Appearance
The 2018 Camaro remained loyal to the image of the original vehicle. The frame is slightly higher, and the roofline is more streamlined, but the concept of a lightweight car powered by an overwhelming force still resides in the design of the vehicle. There are some small and some significant differences built into the 2019 Camaro that may shock some aficionados of the Camaro. The front fascia is seeing an upgrade unimaginable in former years. The 2018 model presented the traditional aggressive appearance that has powered Camaro sales since 1966. The 2019 model is even more aggressive in appearance with a wider grille, headlights that appear to squint, and a hood that frowns. In the rear of the Camaro, the fascia has changed slightly to complete the visual continuity by changing out the hockey stick style taillights for oval tail lights that complement the quad exhaust. The 2019 Camaros comes standard with 20-inch wheels while 18-inch wheels are standard with the 2018 Camaro.
Features
Each year the Chevrolet Camaro stands at the front of the line with new technologies that make the vehicle shine. In 2019, the Camaro excelled by introducing new features into the Pony Car market. Coming standard with the 2018 Camaro is an outstanding audio system with sic well-placed speakers, AM/FM stereo with seek-and-scan capability, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for smartphone use, and an optional 4G LTE with built-in WIFI capability. In 2019 Camaro added an HD rear-vision camera and Bluetooth audio streaming into the mix.
